Romantic Spring Florals

Today on the blog, we are continuing our Spring RTW recap with Ulla Johnson, Rebecca Taylor, and Cinq a Sept, focusing on flirty and feminine florals. These designers use small scale floral arrangements and tiered ruffles to create an ethereal look.

Soft pastels and larger flowers also continue to make a graceful entrance on the runway. Luisa Beccaria and Emilia Wickstead add flair to flowing silhouettes with a mix of roses and daisies. These bold florals placed on light backgrounds create subtle and beautiful statement garments.

Spring Street Safari

Earth tones and rich shades of green were prominent throughout this season.  Taking inspiration from wildlife and city life create a new look for a familiar trend.

Hugo's dress with abstract foliage ,Versace's layering of gold baroque details on leopard print and AF Vandevorst's monochrome ombre leopard jacket are just a few of the many standout looks of the season.

Nicholas K's abstract brush strokes with zebra stripes enhance the prints visual movement. From Pam and Gela's floral bomber jacket to Nicole Miller's safari inspired trompe l'oeil prints, designers are finding ways to add edge and take influence from nature infused with city life.

Spring Stripe Update

Stripes are all over the Spring 2018 runway as designers experiment with variation in color, line weight, dynamic movement and direction.

Tome and Escada show how you can use white to break up bold colors with contrasting horizontal stripes. Tome's combination of fine and bold lines in primary colors creates a whimsical take on traditional stripes. Escada's mix of vivid florals on black and white stripes creates a statement that will brighten up your day!

Taking stripes in another vibrant direction are Nanette Lepore, Tomas Maier, and Self Portrait, who use analogous colors to create dimension by varying the direction of stripes. Sticking to a smaller range of color, the focal point on the stripes allows your eye to go with the flow.

Adding an air of cool simplicity, Audra and Whit use soft earth tones as the palette for stripes. By mixing the direction and experimenting with analogous colors, they show how stripes can be dressed up or down.

Colors You'll Be Wearing This Fall

This week we are sharing our favorite colors of the season!

Black and White

Monochrome stripes are a classic, creating optical illusions, and simple mark-marking is accentuated
by the contrast of black and white. The different shapes and images of flowers create contrast, and the repetition creates movement. Marimekko, Paule Ka, Max Mara and many more are seen using a black and white colour way this Fall.

Ox Blood and Berry Jewel
Rich red and purple tones are seen this Fall, Ox Blood, Hollyhock, Dry Rose, Brick Red, to name a few. These deep shades are seen this season in collections by Victoria Beckham, Prabal Gurung and Jonathon Simkhai.
